Women AdvaNCe had a busy 2019!!

We posted original stories three times weekly written by NC women of all backgrounds and experiences on a myriad of topics timely and important topics such as appreciating our own beauty, domestic violence, reproductive justice, breaking the cycles of trauma, pay equality, women veterans and many others! See 2019 & 2020 stories at our website and follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.   https://www.womenadvancenc.org.

We highlighted months specifically aimed at getting stories out about topics important for women including: reproductive justice & abortion, paid leave, Latinx Heritage Month and Native American Heritage Month.

We grew our Writer’s Collective and increased the diversity of voices amplified. We published in excess of 125 stories during 2019.  Fifty-seven percent of our stories came from women of color, including African American, Native American and Latinx writers.

We participated in race equity training from Biwa Counseling through Blueprint and our board also received private race equity training from Kim Pevia.

We onboarded many new diverse and motivated folks onto our Board of Directors and have begun work on a dynamic 2020 Women Advance Summit highlighting the social “disruption” of cycles and policies we’d like to see change planned for June 2020 in Winston-Salem.

Thanks to our writers, financial partners, organizational partners and readers for making all of this possible.  Looking forward to continuing our important work in 2020!
