Volunteer Opportunities:

Join Our Fundraising Team!

Our fundraising team manages direct donation requests, our online sellfy store, in-person events, benefit nights, peer to peer fundraisers, and fundraising drives. Please register to join us! We need as many volunteers as we can get.

During this meeting, we will review our fundraising strategy, assign goals, and work towards meeting our goals! These meetings will occur at noon on every other Friday and every other Monday at 5pm. Please attend both meetings if possible, but we understand if your availability only allows you to attend one.

Join Our Content Team!

Women AdvaNCe provides the public with information about policies and initiatives that advance women’s rights in North Carolina.

We publish content that:

  • Tells the stories of different groups organizing around issues related to the welfare of women and families in North Carolina
  • Explains proposed and enacted policies and initiatives that impact women and families in North Carolina and their measured and/or projected impact
  • Publicizes events educating about or advocating for policies and initiatives that improve the lives of women and their families
  • Contains original interviews with women’s rights leaders and organizers
  • Informs the public about current events and injustices impacting women and their families through local reporting

To do this, we need volunteer writers, editors, fact checkers, proofreaders, and folks to pitch ideas and provide tips for stories.

Want to be part of this process? Register to join us for our Writer’s Room meetings, every other week on Saturdays at this link. During this meeting, we will plan our content calendar from 12:00pm to 1:00pm and will have time to work on assignments together from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.

If you can’t make a writer’s room meeting but would still like to volunteer, please email emily@womenadvancenc.org, and we’ll find a time to meet and ways to get you plugged in.

Join Our Grant Writing & Program Evaluation Team!

We need volunteers to help us research and write grants. We also welcome volunteers to help us plan and evaluate programs. Our grant writing and program evaluation team meets every other week at 12:00pm on Fridays. You can register to join these meetings at this link.

During these meetings, we will discuss our grant seeking efforts and assign tasks to advance our programs. Any and all interested volunteers and community partners are welcome to attend!

Become a County Liaison!

At Women AdvaNCe, we want to be plugged into every corner of the state. And we need your help to do that. That’s why we’ve implemented a new county liaison program!

County liaisons are assigned two adjacent NC counties to follow local news, events, and facilitate outreach there. You do not have to live in a county to be the liaison for that county, but ideally liaisons would live within an hour’s drive and be able to attend events and build relationships in the counties they are assigned to as needed. This is an anticipated time commitment of 6 hours per month.

County liaisons are expected to attend at least one County & Organization Liaison Meeting per month. These meetings occur every other Saturday from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. During this meeting, county and organization liaisons will report any updates and discuss opportunities for outreach and/or reporting.

If you are interested in serving as a county liaison, please register for the County & Organization Liaison Meeting at this link. During this meeting, we will assign you counties to focus on.

Become an Organization Liaison!

Like county liaisons, organization liaisons help us keep up with all the great work happening across the state to improve the lives of women and families. Organization liaisons are assigned a partner organization to track events for and facilitate communication with. Ideally, organization liaisons will also attend meetings, conferences, etc. for these organizations as they are available. This is an anticipated time commitment of 8 hours per month.

Organization liaisons are expected to attend at least one County & Organization Liaison Meeting per month. These meetings occur every other Saturday from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. During this meeting, county and organization liaisons will report any updates and discuss opportunities for outreach and/or reporting.
