A group of 60 influencers comprised of businesses, academic, faith, and political listed K-12 public schools as their top concern. Other issues such as immigration, health care, terrorism, education, among others were listed. The general publics results varied depending on gender, race, and party affiliation.

A victory for working families in Winston Salem

Winston-Salem has increased minimum wage for city works from $11.25 to $12.50 per hour. The new budget passed also keeps the city tax rate the same and fixed a wage issue for police and fire line officers. But they also owe 835 police and fire officers almost $790,000 in back pay going back to 2005.
