>>image1 (1)Yuna Shin, after hesitating for years about giving up her Korean citizenship, is now a naturalized American citizen. She teaches German and Women’s Studies at Cape Fear Community College where she meets students from all walks of life and finds great satisfaction in opening people’s minds. Yuna uses her role as a language teacher to teach her students about  the world and her role as a Women’s Studies teacher about the importance of politics in everyday life of women. That is why she believes that Women AdvaNCe is important: it exists to empower women so that they can not only better their own lives, but also the lives of those around them. When women succeed, everyone succeeds.

She volunteers at her sons’ schools and other community organizations such as the YWCA, GOTV efforts, and the emerging Black Lives Matter movement. As a member of the NHC NAACP, she has been active with the Parent’s Advisory Council and the Forward Together / Moral Monday Movement.
